Sad But True…

Here’s some content I just received via email (thanks Mum) comparing school in 1957 to school now days. It may be sent out as a funny email but when you thing about it, it really does show just how fucked up we have let society become…

SCHOOL — 1957 vs. 2009

Scenario :
Jack goes rabbit shooting before school,
pulls into school parking lot with rifle in gun rack.

1957 – Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack’s rifle, goes to his car and gets his rifle & chats with Jack about guns.

2009 – School goes into lock down, Star Force called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again.. Counsellors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Adding Music to Your Films…

Using scene files on JVC and other cameras

With todays digital technology there can sometimes be so much to learn about new equipment that we sometimes overlook things that can make our job a little easier. Being able to save your settings to an external card is definitely one thing that fits into this category.  There are a number different PRO camera’s that have adopted this system eg the JVC GYHD100 & 200, Panasonic HVX200, HPX300 & HDX900 and also on the Sony PDW-700 & PDW-F800 XDCAM’s, just to name a few. If your camera is not listed here but it has a memory card slot, then it is possible that it may be able to load and save scene files to the card, contact the manufacturer if you’re not sure or simply google it. Buy Local or Import?

I’m proud to be a South Australian film maker, but it can be damn expensive! Just recently I had filmed a seminar for Interclinical Laboratories at a function here in Adelaide. They said that there was a wireless system in the conference room, so I thought nothing of it, came along and  set up as usual feeling good that I would be able to get some good audio for the DVD the client wanted – I was wrong!     Not only was the system old and noisy, but only a few minutes into the seminar the lapel unit died, even after putting new batteries in it and everything! Luckily for me I had a good shotgun mic in my kit and wasting no time , set it up. This event was going to be the last straw! I NEEDED a good lapel mic, Continue reading Buy Local or Import?
